BOTANIQUE#DISPARITIONS (2016)
Toute image porte déjà en elle sa propre disparition.
À partir de planches botaniques anciennes, BOTANIQUE#DISPARITIONS explore l’effacement progressif de l’image. Gravé puis altéré par étapes successives, un même motif végétal s’estompe peu à peu jusqu’à ne laisser subsister que sa trace. Entre dessin, gravure et brûlure, chaque planche interroge la fragilité de notre mémoire du vivant.
Quelques œuvres introduisent déjà la transparence du calque et la présence discrète de la radiographie, annonçant les recherches développées dans les séries suivantes.
BOTANIQUE#DISPARITIONS
Every image already carries within it its own disappearance.
Based on antique botanical plates, BOTANIQUE#DISPARITIONS explores the gradual fading of the image. Through successive stages of engraving and alteration, a single botanical motif slowly dissolves until only its trace remains. Between drawing, engraving, and burning, each work reflects on the fragility of our memory of the living world.
Several works already introduce the transparency of tracing paper and the discreet presence of X-rays, foreshadowing the investigations developed in the following series.
